Who is the data controller
Daily Facts is published by Raphael Goupille, under the name Fabula, reachable at [email protected].
Data collected
The app can be read without an account. Creating one is optional and only required to comment or submit content; it then involves a username and an email address, detailed below. Your progress and settings remain stored on your device. Anonymous usage statistics are also transmitted.
User account
On sign-up, we store your username (neither first nor last name is asked), your email address, your password in encrypted form and the sign-up date.
Content you submit — facts, quotes, comments — is kept in order to be published in the app. Your IP address is processed for security purposes, to prevent abuse.
This data is used solely to sign you in, manage submitted content and moderate it. It is never sold, transferred, or used for advertising. Authentication and storage rely on Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, provided by Google LLC. Deleting your account, on request to [email protected], erases the associated username and email address.
Usage measurement
The app uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand how it is used — screens opened, features used, crashes — and improve accordingly. Measurement is tied to an app instance identifier specific to your install, regenerated if you reinstall the app: it does not use Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA), does not follow you across apps and serves no advertising. Processing is carried out by Google LLC, which may host this data outside the European Union; its policy is available at policies.google.com. No data identifying you — name, email address, account — is collected, since the app asks for none.
Advertising
The app is funded by advertising served through Google AdMob. Depending on your consent, AdMob may process advertising identifiers to personalise ads. The consent form is shown on first launch in regions where it is required, and your choice can be changed later in the app settings. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com. iOS may also show a tracking permission prompt (App Tracking Transparency): declining it does not prevent you from using the app, ads are simply non-personalised.
In-app purchases
The app offers optional in-app purchases. Payments are handled by Apple: the publisher receives no payment details.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability (Articles 15 to 20), the right to withdraw consent at any time (Article 7(3)), as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Article 77).
If you created an account, these rights are exercised by writing to [email protected]: a deletion request erases the account and its associated data. Data stored on your device alone disappears when you uninstall the app.
