A classic that is still good exercise
Hangman has a quality few word games share: it forces you to reason about the structure of a word rather than recognise it. You guess by elimination, by letter frequency, by shape — exactly the reflexes that serve spelling.
That is what makes it a quietly effective learning tool. The child thinks they are playing, and is in fact working on vocabulary and spelling.
Built to be played together
